Father Mimmo Iervolino
Father Domenico Iervolino was born in S. Gennarello di Ottaviano (NA) on December 23, 1964. He began to write songs at eighteen. He won the "First festival of youth" as a performer and author with the song, "Brividi di agosto".
When he was 20, he decided to enter into the seminary and for a certain period of time he abandoned all his musical aims, thinking that a vocation to the priesthood was incompatible with rock music. At the conclusion of his seminary studies, though, he rediscovered his love for music. Some of his friends even induced him to record some of his songs for the occasion of his ordination.
In 1994, he published his first album titled, "Innamorami di Te". In 1996 he published "Fatti per essere". His composition "Uno per essere Chiesa"
was chosen by Chiara Lubich, founder of the "Movimento dei Focolari", as the hymn of the international congress of the "Parrocchie nuove" movement.
On december 1997 he took part in the second edition of the "Ankon festival"
in Ancona, avertised by "Arancia Network" and radio "Latte e miele" and organized by E. Fratini. He won the festival and received the prize for the best lyrics.
For his album, "Buonenuove", he placed his trust in the artistic direction of Tony Bungaro and C. Passavanti, who had just realized success at Sanremo
1998 with the song "Senza confini" which won the acclaim of critics.
This summer he played with a dynamic and powerful band, giving a series of concerts that were well received. Many people commented that they hadn't expected such a dynamic performance when they initially read the concert programs. They praised his voice, performing abilities and his communicativeness.
